A 2-year-old Orland girl is fighting for her life after she was found Friday face down in a drainage ditch outside her family?s home.
As of 2:50 p.m. Friday, Olivia Amorim was on life support and listed in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, the Glenn County Sheriff?s Office reported.
The toddler was first transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico before she was taken to the hospital in Sacramento, deputies said.
Sgt. Todd James said the child appears to have wandered away from her home on County Road O, just south of Highway 32 in Orland, while her family was working on daily household chores outside.
She is the daughter of Monica and Danny Amorim.
James said the girl was found pressed against a wooden board, face down in an irrigation drainage ditch about 10 minutes after she went missing.
The child received CPR at the scene and was transported to Enloe.
?There is nothing that appears suspicious at this time,? James said.
Friday?s incident marked the fourth reported drowning in Glenn County since July and the third involving a child.
The most recent incident was reported in August when Luis Salgado, 34, of Orland, also drown in Black Butte Lake after a day of swimming with family. Salgado?s body was submerged in the cold lake waters for several days before it surfaced Aug. 4.
The body of 14-year-old Angel Valdovinos-Martinez was pulled from Black Butte Lake on the Fourth of July where he was reportedly swimming and celebrating the summer holiday with family and friends.
Just 10 days later, Carter Unruh, a 17-month-old Bayliss child, drown in a drainage ditch outside his family?s home in a tragedy that bares many similarities to Friday?s incident.
