Ambassador (ret.) Barbara K. Bodine was the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen from 1997 to 2001, where she oversaw enhanced support for democratization, and increased security and counterterrorism cooperation. Amb. Bodine is currently a lecturer in public policy at Princeton University?s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs where she teaches courses and directs policy task forces and policy workshops on US diplomacy in the Persian Gulf region, including Iraq and Yemen. She also serves as Director of the School?s Scholars in the Nation?s Service Initiative, a fellowship program for students pursuing careers in federal service.

Mr. Gregory Johnsen, a former Fulbright Fellow in Yemen, is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. Mr. Johnsen has written for a variety of publications on Yemen including, among others, Foreign Policy, The American Interest, The Independent,The Boston Globe, and The National. He is the co-founder of Waq al-Waq: Islam and Insurgency in Yemen Blog. In 2009, he was a member of the USAID?s conflict assessment team for Yemen.

Ambassador (ret.) James Larocco is Director of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA Center), U.S. Department of Defense/National Defense University. He joined the NESA Center in August 2009 after serving more than 35 years as a diplomat. During the past 15 years, Amb. Larocco held key leadership assignments related to the Near East region, including Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), 2004-2009; Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East, 2001-2004; U.S. Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, 1997-2001; and Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge D?Affaires in Tel Aviv, 1993-1996.

Dr. John Duke Anthony is the Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, and currently serves on the United States Department of State Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy and its subcommittees on Sanctions and Trade and Investment. For the past 38 years he has been a consultant and regular lecturer on the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf for the Departments of Defense and State. Dr. Anthony is the only American to have been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in the former People?s Democratic Republic of Yemen (1969-1970), and served as an international observer in four of Yemen?s presidential and parliamentary elections.
