A revival of the former Poindexter Village on Columbus' east side will yield $16 million in new housing.?

Moody Nolan Inc., the Columbus architecture and engineering firm, continues to fill its design contract pipeline.

The company has landed a high-profile design contract calling for a $60 million renovation and expansion of the 40,000-seat Vanderbilt University football stadium in Nashville, Tenn.

But there also are projects exiting the firm?s design studio and moving into construction.

Among ventures that have broken ground lately include the HighPoint at Columbus Commons apartment complex downtown, a fire station in Marysville and a headquarters for Dayton apartment developer Connor Group.

And in a matter of months, a $31 million student recreation center for Prairie View A&M University in Texas and a home office for telecom giant CenturyLink Inc. (NYSE:CTL) in Louisiana are to start construction.

The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority also expects to break ground on a $16 million housing project Moody Nolan designed. The housing will be built on the grounds of the vacated Poindexter Village on Champion Avenue in the city?s Near East Side.

?Pushing (projects) out quickly means we have to just as quickly push them out on the other end,? Moody Nolan CEO Curt Moody said.

Another Moody Nolan-designed project under construction is an 80,000-square-foot student center at Meharry Medical College in Nashville.

Indeed, Nashville projects have kept the firm?s design staff busy this year, including the Vanderbilt stadium expansion just as construction of a $25 million practice facility at the college gets under way. Moody Nolan designed the practice facility.

Moody Nolan has a quick turnaround expected on a new school building design for the New Albany-Plain Local School District, which hired the firm this month. That project is scheduled get under construction this summer.
